SS Blidösund: the book
The people of Blidö's very own ship was built as a revolt against the city's large steamboat companies and has, over the years, been admired and respected both by lovers of the archipelago and by boat enthusiasts alike - even those who reside far from Blidö's waters. During the ship's 90 year history, many fine stories which have been told on its bridges, in between decks and in its lounge and these stories have now become a book. A delightful book which conveys the odours of coal, steamboat steak and grilled herring. A book in which we can nearly hear - the fireman's shovel scraping against the floor, the beer bottles rattling in the lounge, the wailing blues riffs from the aft deck and the dumb waiter's heavy sigh as it returns back down to the galley in the evening for the last time.
