Siarö fort with the STF - youth hostel

SIARÖ FORT MUSEUM and its STF youth hostel are situated on the tiny island of Kyrkogårdsön, in the middle of the Furusund trail. Large areas of the island bear the hallmarks of the military defence installation which started to be built in connection with the First World War. After comprehensive renovations, the island is now open to the general public. During its open season, guided tours on and inside the fort are organised on a daily basis. You can even go round on your own with an audio guide. In addition to the excitement of the fort, there is also a STF youth hostel with a café which is licensed to serve beer and wine. At  Siarö fort you can also hire canoes, bathe, play boule, go fishing or just relax. Right by the beach there is a wood-fired sauna, a very enjoyable experience! Siarö fort is also a good departure point for boat trips in great comfort aboard m/s Sjögull and m/s Sjöbris to Vaxholm, Ängsö National Park, Furusund, Saltkråkan, Svartlöga, Rödlöga, Fejan and Arholma.
